An Appeal to Help Walikale Territory in the DR Congo

From Georgianne Nienaber, independent journalist, who has written extensively on the DR Congo:

I have had Congolese diaspora come forward with donations for Walikale, as well as Americans. Prizm Foundation set up a dedicated donation site ( Walowa Young Groupement, Walikale, DR of the Congo) , tax free. UNHCR is transporting donated goods and food through the conflict area to the villagers who have had their villages burned to the ground. Through help from people who recently worked in Haiti's cholera camps, we forwarded a simple concoction of salt, sugar and water for dehydration. The Mwamis in Walikale organized a newsletter that we try to promote for them...

Villagers' food consists mainly of some wild vegetable and wild manioc (cassava) that they find in the bush. Photo by Paluku Mbusa Omer 2012.
You will have to scroll two-thirds down this Prizm donation website to find the Walikale donation link. Thanks for giving!
