Soaring songs from an orchestra you'll never forget - 60 Minutes Overtime - CBS News

Handel's Messiah

The DR Congo's Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra is the only symphony orchestra in Central Africa and the only all-black orchestra in the world. In their recent concert its volunteer musicians and vocalists performed such classics as Handel's Messiah:

Carmina Burana

The Congo is about the last place one would expect to find a symphony orchestra, but that didn't stop Armand Diangienda -- a former commercial pilot -- from starting one. Watch the Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra perform "Carmina Burana."

Oh Happy Day

An amazing amateur symphony orchestra in the Congo performs a beloved gospel hymn "Oh, Happy Day."

Beethoven's Ninth in the Congo

The seed of a musical miracle took root in the Congo's capital city of Kinshasa 20 years ago when the Kimbanguist Symphony Orchestra was founded. Here they perform Beethoven's Ninth.
