Jennifer Rexford, Sick P2S worker.wmv
Grit your teeth and watch this video by Jennifer Rexford of her own crucified existence after working as a BP Oil Spill Cleanup worker. She is just one of scores (hundreds? thousands?) of citizens who are suffering from horrific chronic illnesses due to the Gulf Oil Disaster and cover-up. The government and BP DO NOT WANT you to know of Jennifer's plight, nor of the plight of all of their other victims, be they BP workers or ex-workers, everyday Gulf Coast inhabitants or even tourists or itinerants.

The 'new' rhetoric of Islamophobia - Opinion - Al Jazeera English
The 'new' rhetoric of Islamophobia - Opinion - Al Jazeera English

US Rep. Peter King (R-NY) - formerly an ardent supporter of the IRA - has been making no distinctions between the average Muslim layman and a radical [Getty]
For me, the question is this: will the secular Western civilisation shared by America and Europe, which allows us to enjoy life and its creature comforts, still be standing at the end of that war? Or will radical Islam, with an aggressive culture that treasures martyrdom and death over life, prevail.... [italics mine]

US Rep. Peter King (R-NY) - formerly an ardent supporter of the IRA - has been making no distinctions between the average Muslim layman and a radical [Getty]
New York City's former mayor, Ed Koch, has taken time off from his new career as a film critic to offer a valentine to Rep. Peter King (R-NY), the new chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, for scheduling hearings on the dangers posed by Muslim Americans.
Koch's support for King is not surprising. Koch has always been open about his contempt for Arabs and Muslims and his belief that a war of civilisations is now in progress between Muslims and everyone else. He recently wrote:
For me, the question is this: will the secular Western civilisation shared by America and Europe, which allows us to enjoy life and its creature comforts, still be standing at the end of that war? Or will radical Islam, with an aggressive culture that treasures martyrdom and death over life, prevail.... [italics mine]
For years, Koch, King and others who share their anti-Muslim views hid behind that word: "radical". They said that they have no problem with Muslims as people or Islam as a religion. It is only "radical Islam" or "Islamists" that they can't abide.
Lately that caveat has been thrown to the winds. It is now clear that for Islamophobes (actually Islamohaters), "radical" Islam is just Islam. And "radical" Muslims are just Muslims.

Naomi Klein: The Search for BP's Oil AND Finding It
From the text accompanying this video and my additions:
In the aftermath of the April 2010 explosion on BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig, the media was saturated with images of oil-streaked Gulf Coast water and birds coated in a toxic mix of petroleum and dispersant. But as Naomi Klein writes in "The Search for BP's Oil" - The Nation, when "the spill-cam was switched off and it became clear that there would be no immediate mass die-offs among dolphins and pelicans... most of us were pretty much on to the next telegenic disaster." When Klein visited the Gulf in early December aboard the research vessel Weatherbird II, however, the very real--if harder to spot--effects of the spill were still being felt.
Led by Dr David Hollander, the research team soon discovered crude oil in the depths far beyond the two mile radius surrounding the site of the PB oil disaster that the government claims is as far as sub-surface oil contamination went.

Haiti's Historic Iron Market Completely Renovated & Open For Business
GREAT NEWS!
I visited the Iron Market in Port-au-Prince last May, 2010, when it was still a crippled wreck, hoping that it would somehow be rebuilt, and indeed that miracle has happened, and here it stands, just reopened on the eve of the first anniversary of the great Earthquake of January 12, 2010:
This is a testament to and metaphor for the dauntless, ebullient spirit and energy of the Haitian people, whose courage and resilience awe the onlooker. I captured a bit of this spirit in a music video I made last year about the Iron Market and the giant outdoor market district surrounding it. Here it is:
Now check out the following article on the historical celebration of the Iron Market's reopening, a key resurrection moment for the New Haiti:
